SPORT AND ENTERTAINMENT
Entertainment venues including bars, nightclubs, festivals and concert halls have particular issues due to the volume of noise they may generate and their hours of operation. Miller Goodall utilises noise modelling and monitoring to assess the impact of noise-sensitive receptors. Noise modelling can also be utilised to predict noise levels and identify mitigating measures to control noise levels.
We also have experience in resolving issues surrounding smoking shelters, which can cause noise issues due to their hours of use.
Sports facilities, particularly external venues such as artificial grass pitches (AGP), kick pitches, multi-use games areas (MUGA) and skate parks all have the potential to generate noise. We are experienced in undertaking noise assessments for all these uses, for both planning applications and complaint investigations. We have undertaken a number of assessments utilising Sport England’s guidance on Artifical Grass Pitch (AGP) Acoustics, including the use of noise modelling to predict the impact on the local environment.
Miller Goodall is proud to be working with OnSide Youth Zones, a charity aiming to build a network of 21st century youth centres, giving young people safe and affordable places to go in their leisure time. As part of the team developing the charity’s programme of Youth Zones across the county, we have carried out a number of noise and air quality assessments to support planning submissions.
