William Bateman
Graduate Acoustic Consultant
Will completed his BSc (Hons) degree in Physics at the University of East Anglia, which allowed him to develop a keen interest in acoustics. During his time at university, he completed projects that involved analysing the waveforms of musical instruments and then recording and transforming the acoustic samples. With experience modelling a variety of processes, including cell population growth and mutation with statistics, as well as heat transfer through soil over time, he is keen to apply his skill set and grow his knowledge at Miller Goodall.

Sarah Cook
Graduate Acoustic Consultant
Sarah has a BSc (Hons) in Sound Engineering and Production from the University of Salford, which was a multitasked degree that helped her to adapt to new technologies. During her time at university, she developed a keen interest in acoustics and after graduating in the summer of 2022, she decided to jump straight into the industry. She achieved firsts in modules relating to audio installation, spatial audio and audio production and a dissertation on stereo microphone techniques, which evaluated audio quality based on different techniques and locations, using objective and subjective testing. Sarah has extensive experience in hospitality and customer service and wants to combine her people skills with her current knowledge and is keen to learn and eager to get started on projects.

Dan Emery
SENIOR ACOUSTIC CONSULTANT
Dan has a BSc (Hons) in Acoustics from the University of Salford. He has worked in acoustics and vibration control engineering since 2010, with experience in consultancy, research, product development, testing, design, and manufacturing. Dan’s consultancy experience is primarily in environmental work, supporting planning applications for residential and commercial developments. He also has experience in the design, manufacture and testing of elastomeric bearings for full-building base isolation projects. Working as an acoustic consultant, he has drawn on this experience to assess vibration and re-radiated noise constraints at potential development sites.

Unam Ejaz
SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANT
Unam has a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Engineering from the University of Windsor, Canada. She has extensive experience in completing air quality, odour and dust assessments and is skilled in human health risk assessments and dust management plans. Unam has completed a multitude of projects in Canada and the UK for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), planning applications, discharge of planning conditions, environmental permitting, and stack height assessments. She specialises in air quality dispersion modelling of road and industrial stacks, human health risk assessments, emission and source inventories, and dust assessments.
Unam is a member of the Institute of Air Quality Management and an associate member of the Institute of Environmental Sciences.

Vanessa Gaffey
Operations Manager
Vanessa has extensive knowledge and experience working in Accountancy, VAT and Payroll, having previously worked within an accountancy practice for 24 years. She has worked closely with SME’S at all stages and supported them, whilst maintaining strong client relationships which is something Miller Goodall strives to achieve. She has gained qualifications in AAT and the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals.

Lesley Goodall
DIRECTOR
Lesley has a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Health, an MSc in Environmental Protection, and a Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control. After 14 years working within the Environmental Health teams of the London Borough of Haringey, Trafford MBC, West Lancashire DC and Salford City Council, she joined with Jo to set up Miller Goodall, where she specialises in air quality, including air quality dispersion modelling and pollution prevention control.

Melody Horan
SENIOR AIR QUALITY CONSULTANT
Melody has a first-class BSc (Hons) degree in Environmental Science and received distinction for her MSc in Environmental Science. As a senior air quality consultant at Miller Goodall, Melody carries out air quality and odour assessments as well as mitigation strategies for a wide variety of development types. Melody’s experience includes assessing road traffic and combustion sources, and odour and dust from construction and mineral activities.

Daniella Hurst
System Support and Analyst Assistant
Daniella has a varied background with several years of experience in administration, customer service and team management. She has predominantly worked within the utilities industry gaining vast knowledge in electricity and gas. Daniella has a keen interest in developing her skillset and often undertakes online courses, she is currently studying towards a Diploma in Microsoft Excel and plans to continue widening her skillset once completed.

Jo Lacy
Senior Acoustic Consultant
Jo holds a BEng (Hons) and MSc (Hons) in Acoustics from the University of Salford. Jo has worked on automotive audio with Bang & Olufsen and Harman Automotive departments in Denmark and in event noise control across the UK for festivals including Glastonbury, Download and Leeds Festivals. Jo also developed an explosive noise prediction model for their MSc dissertation which was presented at UK Explosive Liaison Group 50th AGM and joined Miller Goodall with 5 years’ experience in acoustic consultancy.

Lewis Martin
Marketing and Office Manager
Lewis has completed an NVQ Diploma in Design and a subsidiary NVQ in Art and Design as part of an Apprenticeship that kick-started his career in Digital Marketing. Although still early in his career, he has worked in a variety of industries including lighting, automotive, and banking which has allowed him to gain important knowledge in administration and customer service that is crucial to his role at Miller Goodall.
Joining us as Marketing and Business Development, Lewis now helps with various aspects of our marketing endeavours and is looking to expand our client base by building relationships in all sectors that we are involved in as well as supporting our admin team.

Michael Rickard
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR - ACOUSTICS
Michael has a BA (Hons) and a Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control. He has broad international experience in environmental and architectural acoustics and serves as an expert witness in both fields. His research in acoustics has been presented at international conferences and published in the Institute of Acoustics’ bulletin. Michael has an interest in computer modelling as an aid to creative problem solving and enjoys working with architects to develop high-performing acoustic solutions in difficult buildings.

Phil Walton
SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANT
Phil has a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Geoscience and a certificate in noise monitoring. He has over six years’ experience in air quality, odour and dust assessments, and is also skilled in both noise measurement and lighting assessments. Phil has completed a multitude of projects across the UK for standalone technical reporting, EIA and permitting. He specialises in air quality dispersion modelling of road and combustion sources, air quality and dust monitoring, olfactometry odour surveying and reporting, and dust assessments.

William Wright
SENIOR ACOUSTIC CONSULTANT
Will has a BSc in Physics with Astrophysics and a Diploma in Applied Acoustics. He has worked as an Acoustic Consultant since 2013, working on a variety of project types including environmental noise and vibration, industrial and commercial noise impact, and sound insulation testing. Will has experience of noise modelling, he joined Miller Goodall in 2022 and is working towards becoming a registered sound insulation tester with the Association of Noise Consultants.
